As I was born in a family of Social Workers, I had the opportunity to serve the rural and needy people. Gradually, I was engaged in many social activities, while assisting my father, late Bini Jaipu, who had served the State as a Political Assistant and a renowned social activist.

I was educated in Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan. After my education, I founded the "All Subansiri District Girls' Welfare Association", where I served as President for seven years and raised my voice against evil practices such as child marriage, forced marriage, bride prices, etc.

Thereafter, I joined as Assistant Teacher and served under Education Department, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh. I was also among the first ladies to join the 1st batch of lady police under Arunachal Pradesh Police in 1978. I had witnessed the pitiable conditions of the girls and women in the State and I felt the need of a shelter home and rehabilitation centre for such women & girls.

In 1979, I initiated a small Adult Education and Nursery Center in Naharlagun and a small Shelter Home for girls, victims of child/ forced marriage and destitute women. Meanwhile, I resigned from the Police Department and registered the small Centre to an NGO, namely Oju Welfare Association (OWA), in 1988. This was my first milestone and presently various activities for destitute women and orphan children are being taken up by the Oju Welfare Association. In brief, these are:-

        Shishu Greh (Orphanage)

        Maintenance of 150 destitute children.

Short Stay Home for 45 destitute women & girls.

        Working Women Hostel.

Family Counseling Centre and Women's Help line.

Educational Institutions for 100 poor and needy ST girls at low literacy

pocket of Seppa, providing free education.

Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at Jang, Tawang for 100 ST girls.

Secondary school, affiliated to CBSE at Naharlagun for poor & drop-outs.

Vocational Training Centres with 16 various trades.

        Awareness Campaigns, Seminars, etc.

In addition, two Organizations, namely State Resource Centre AP and Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Naharlagun, sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, are also functioning under the aegis of OWA.

Thereafter, I founded a Cooperative Society in the name of Himgiri Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. The objective of the Cooperative Society was to cater the needs of the rural artisans and market their products through Sales Emporium and participation in various Exhibitions throughout the country and abroad such as Birmingham (UK) in 2008, Bhutan (2009) and Johannesburg, South Africa in July 2011.

Presently, I am the Chairperson of OWA and supervising the activities of the Organization in addition to monitoring and evaluation of the activities. I am also the Proprietor of Oju Craft Centre in Naharlagun. Today, around 200 people are earning their livelihood from my organization and many have been self-employed.

Besides OWA, I am also associated with many State and National Level Organizations. I was also nominated as member of the Steering Committee on Voluntary Sector, Planning commission. In addition, I was the Chairperson of Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Naharlagun, an Ministry of HRD sponsored agency, imparting Vocational trainings in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh.
