Itanagar, March 21: The traditional Affluent Ray Of Light (ARL), formed by few versatile fashion designers of NE India, intends to showcase and promote the rich time-tested cultural mosaic of NE region globally to create market for the weaving industry to turn an alluring profession and vocation.

Addressing media persons at Press Club here on 19 March last, ARL chief operating officer Yana Ngoba said that the 2ndedition of  North East India Fashion Week-2016 or Sanskriti Aburu will take place again at Itanagar in June next.

Such events have been treated as only entertainment show because of wrong concept and the first edition in April last year had failed to yield the desired result, Yana said, adding the designers are organising  the event and even performed in numerous shows including at London, Bangkok, Africa, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata at their own cost without any sponsor or Government support.

It would create a global networking to expand the market, particularly in NE, said Yana, a designer herself who markets her products to UK and USA.   

"Lajja, written by Bangladeshi novelist Dr Taslima   Nasrin in 1993, intended to protect theijjatof women, but made her infamous with threat to her life and forcing her to escape to Sweden in 1994 quitting her medical profession to become a full-time writer and activist," said ALF chief adviser Pradeep Kumar, adding the ARL is a platform showcasing beautifully covering the lajja or lajya(aburu) in traditional style.

Models presented traditionally designed dresses with modern touch of Garima Garg (who could not reach) & Arita Kashyap (both Assam) and upcoming ones Koyong Gloria Ovung & Ongtiong Kichu (Nagaland),  Milli Indira Dangngo & Nana Gona (Arunachal) as a curtain raiser of the upcoming event.

Pointing out that 37 NE designers took part in first edition and registration is still on for the intending ones of avail the opportunity, Yana disclosed that the designers taking part in the event which would include stalls for sale would take part in London Fashion show in September next.

The pre promotion party of the glitzy show - North East Fashion Week 2016 was held at Pub De Blue's where the short yet fabulous teasers of the upcoming event was shown by the various designers. After displaying the Tribal Creations with a modern twist in London, Yana Ngoba is now eyeing for the Runaway fashion in Arunachal Pradesh.

Apparently, the young and new to the fashion industry designers made a strong impression with their traditional & modern fusion style that spectators present during the pre promo party bought it instantly after the show was over.
